A-list couple Jennifer Lopez
and Ben Affleck
are purchasing a magnificent mansion in Los Angeles
with plenty of room for both of their families, according to TMZ
The couple is said to be in escrow for a Bel-Air
megamansion and plan to pay approximately $50 million.
As of Tuesday, the listing still shows as active with a price tag of $65 million.
If the deal goes through at a lower amount, the couple will take the house keys at a 23% discount.
Last summer, rumors swirled after the reunited couple toured a different megamansion
in the high-end Holmby Hills
area. They didn’t end up buying that particular property, but their appetite for ritzy real estate remained rapacious. The lovebirds had been spotted spending time together
in South Florida, the Hamptons, and Montana.
And for J. Lo, love and real estate seem to go hand in hand. In her previous relationship, she and former baseball star Alex Rodriguez
bought and sold luxury abodes in Manhattan
, and the ultra-exclusive Star Island
So if the Bel-Air rumors prove true, we wanted to know what sealed the deal for the duo. We asked some luxury real estate experts to weigh in. But first, let’s take a peek at the fabulous pad.
Built-in 1936, the traditional-style home last changed hands in 2016 for $27.6 million.
Set behind a gated driveway, the 19,712-square-foot mansion on 1.1 acres in the heart of Bel-Air features a golf course and city views.
The 10-bedroom, 17-bath mansion is designed for large-scale entertaining. It includes a formal dining room and a living room with a bar. The kitchen has an all-white color scheme and flows into a casual dining area.
The living spaces flow outside to a patio with seating and a fire pit, lawn, and infinity pool.
The primary suite comes with a sitting room and double baths—one with a gold tub. A glamorous, pink-hued dressing room and closet appear extremely diva-worthy.
A kid-friendly rec space includes a home theater, lounge, and game room.
Other perks include a gym, office, library, family room, staff quarters with a kitchen, and a guesthouse.
Luxury Plus History
The gorgeous residence comes with quite an architectural pedigree.
“They will acquire a piece of Hollywood history. It was designed by the legendary architect to the stars Paul Revere Williams,” says The Agency’s Aimee Stern. “It provides plenty of room for this iconic couple and their large, combined family to make their own history.”
Marketed as the Bellagio Estate, the renovated and move-in ready space is ideal for whatever the busy twosome need for their family, friends, and staff.
“This was a very turn-key option, which is transitional and adaptable in style,” notes Cara Ameer, an agent with Coldwell Banker who’s licensed in California and Florida. “These are things that are in high demand with all buyers today, but especially the ultraluxury buyer set.”
Despite its size, the home isn’t ostentatious.
“Many things on the market in this price range can be very taste-specific,” says Ameer. “While [they] have the means to change whatever they want, the time and hassle involved is another story. Especially if they need to find a place to get everyone comfortably settled under one roof.”
Of course, location always plays a role when it comes to picking the perfect place. This sumptuous slice of Southern California is one of the nation’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
“The Bel-Air neighborhood is fabulous and iconic,” says Myra Nourmand, principal and luxury real estate agent at Nourmand & Associates. “That part of Bel-Air is home to some of the most magnificent properties in the country and to some high-profile locals. It has privacy, beautiful scenery, and less traffic.”
For a high-profile couple, it’s all about the amenities and options that allow for galas and soirees, she adds.
“It’s also a fantastic space for large groups and for entertaining. There’s a full catering kitchen, two additional kitchens, a large motor court, and a service entrance with parking. That coupled with the exquisite grounds, vast lawns, pocket gardens, and stunning views—this is an entertainer’s dream house,” says Nourmand.
